CATALINA LIGHTING INC PROMOTES JAMES W. SCOTT
TO MANAGING DIRECTOR OF ITS CANADIAN OPERATIONS
MIAMI (February 6, 2003) … Catalina Lighting Inc (Nasdaq:CALA),
a leading international designer, manufacturer, and distributor of lighting
products for residential and office environments, announced today the
promotion of James W. Scott, 41, to the position of Managing Director of its
Canadian subsidiary, Catalina Canada (1992), Inc., effective immediately.
He replaces Don Planche who has left the Company to pursue other
opportunities.
Catalina CEO Bob Varakian
commented, “This promotion signals the confidence that Catalina has in Jim
Scott. As our Vice President of
Sales and Marketing, Jim was responsible for managing the Company’s large
Canadian retail accounts. Jim
also has valuable expertise in product development, having played an integral
role in the development of lighting products we sell into the Canadian market,
and we will continue to rely on Jim’s extensive experience in sourcing Asian
production, a key component of our business model.”
Scott has been with Catalina
for the past seven years in roles of increasing responsibility; for the past
four years Scott held the post of Vice President of Sales and Marketing in the
Company’s Toronto office, overseeing Catalina’s relationships with major
Canadian retailers. Prior to joining Catalina, Scott spent seven years with
Mitsubishi Consumer Electronics, finishing his tenure there in the position of
Regional Account Manager for Atlantic Canada.
